What are the difference between a Presta Valve and a Schrader Valve?
Presta valves differ from Schrader valves in their longer and narrower design. They feature a screw at the tip that needs to be unscrewed when connecting a pump for inflation, and pressing down on the unscrewed tip releases air. On the other hand, Schrader valves are shorter and stubbier, resembling the valves found on car tires.
When purchasing inner tubes, it is crucial to choose the right valve type to ensure compatibility. A Schrader valve cannot fit through a valve hole intended for a Presta valve, and vice versa. Attempting to use mismatched combinations can lead to the rubber around the valve being exposed and rubbing against the valve hole, increasing the risk of a puncture.
